My Review

Andi and Owen have never met but they have one thing in common, they both hate weddings. But can they put their feelings aside when their best friends are getting married to each other and Andi is asked to be the maid of honour and Owen is asked to be the best man.

As someone who loves weddings I loved the concept of this story i.e. two people whose closest friends are marrying each other and they are given very important roles in the wedding but they don’t like weddings. I really enjoyed the storyline which had a mixture of happy moments and sad moments. One of my favourite things about the story was definitely the setting. It starts off in the UK and then moves to Italy where the wedding is to take place. The wedding venue and surroundings sounded so picturesque and beautiful. It’s somewhere I’d love to visit. Although the guests all go to Italy for the wedding in some ways it’s also like a mini holiday for them because they take part in other events as well as helping to organise the wedding.

It’s clear from the beginning why Andi doesn’t like weddings especially because her own wedding never took place after she discovered that her fiancee was cheating on her. For Andi it was from this point onwards that she couldn’t stand weddings or anything about them because they reminded her that her trust had been broken and her love had been betrayed. Not only is Andi having to deal with the wedding but she’s also concerned about her mom and the family chip shop because she believes that her mom might sell it. Despite the chip shop running into some issues Andi is very protective of it because it’s always been in the family. Andi is very independent but sometimes this works to her detriment because she never asks for help and takes on a lot of responsibility especially when it comes to the chip shop even though there are people around her who would be happy to help.

I loved the chemistry between Andi and Owen. Their first meeting was definitely memorable because they’re both quirky and have a sense of humour that only the other understands. They bond over their hatred of weddings and were the perfect main characters because they worked so well together to support their best friends and make sure the wedding is a success. But the more time they spend together they become closer and they start to see each other in a different light. Apart from hating weddings hey also have other things in common such as always trying to fix things and trust issues. They’ve both been hurt in the past but as they become closer they have to start to trust each other and their feelings.

If you like rom coms with a wedding setting then this is one to add to your list.
